Three passengers diagnosed with monkeypox at Karachi airport

KARACHI: Three passengers have been diagnosed with monkeypox at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, ARY News reported on Thursday. The surveillance team of the Sindh health department carried out an action at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport. Three passengers who arrived in Karachi from Libya were diagnosed with monkeypox. The Director General Health told the media that all three passengers were Pakistani citizens aged between 30 and 45. Earlier in the month, the National Institute of Health (NIH) confirmed a case of the monkeypox virus in Pakistan. OKARA: In a shocking incident, bundles of exam papers of Sahiwal and Sargodha board have been stolen from a marking center, ARY News reported. As per details, English papers of Sahiwal board and Physics papers of Sargodha board were stolen from Government Girls Graduate College marking center. It was also revealed that the students take the exam paper with them and check their own papers accordingly. PTI rejects cypher case hearing in Attock jail

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the transfer of cypher case hearing against the former prime minister to Attock jail, ARY News reported.  As per details, the party spokesperson said that PTI urged the Supreme Court to take notice of the human rights violation. The international and local human rights organizations should raise voices against the unconstitutional measures, the PTI spokesperson added. Sources told ARY News that the Law Ministry hasn’t forwarded the response to President Dr Arif Alvi, who sought its opinion regarding the authority of giving an election date. The development came after Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja responded to President Alvi’s letter for meeting to “fix an appropriate date” for general elections, saying that participating in such a meeting would be of “scant importance” after changes to the election law. KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on September 1 (Friday) to mark the 280th Urs of saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, ARY News reported on Monday. According to a notification, all offices, educational institutions, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils falling under the Sindh government, except essential services, will remain closed on Friday. “The government of Sindh declares 14th Safar 1445 (A.H) September 1, 2023, as a public holiday throughout the province of Sindh on the occasion of urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) for all offices, autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils under the administrative control of the government of Sindh,” read the notification. KARACHI: Sindh Caretaker Finance Minister Younus Dagha has issued directives to clear two-year dues of the government employees in terms of salaries and pensions, ARY News reported on Monday. Sindh Caretaker Finance Minister Younus Dagha issued orders to pay two-year dues of the serving and retired government employees. He also ordered to launch a mobile app for improving the services of district treasury offices. More than 20,000 retired government employees are facing difficulties due to non-clearance of dues for three years. The minister admitted that there is a shortage of funds in terms of pre-retirement salaries, pensions, commutation and gratuity. He detailed that the dues of the government workers have soared to Rs36 billion due to the financial crisis. KARACHI: Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah on Sunday said that it is unlikely that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif will return to Pakistan in October, ARY News reported. Boy dies of suffocation after locking himself inside car

A four-year-old boy on Friday died of suffocation after accidentally locking himself inside a car in India. KARACHI: A courier rider made a courageous move and foiled the robbery bid in the Nazimabad area of Karachi on Friday, ARY News reported. The failed robbery event was caught on camera. ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday delisted September 5 cases, including a contempt case registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and others, ARY News reported. In a statement, the electoral watchdog has asserted that the cases – to be heard on September 5 – were delisted due to the unavailability of the bench. It is pertinent to mention here that the ECP had served notices to PTI chief and former federal ministers Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry in contempt case. Earlier, Lahore High Court (LHC) stopped Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from taking final decision against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief in the contempt case. LHC Judge Justice Muhammad Wahid Khan heard the plea filed by PTI chief against the  ECP proceedings . 8 dead, 1,090 injured in Punjab road accidents in 24 hours

LAHORE: At least eight people were killed and 1,090 others injured in 1,047 road traffic crashes in Punjab during the last 24 hours, ARY News reported. As many as 560 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 530 with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by the rescue medical teams. The data analysis showed that 586 drivers, 33 underage drivers, 131 pedestrians, and 381 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 266 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 277 persons, placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by 84 in Faisalabad with 71 victims and at third Multan with 72 accidents and 81 victims. According to the data, 923 motorbikes, 63 auto-rickshaws, 96 motorcars, 24 vans, 12 passenger buses, 27 trucks and 95 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the road traffic accidents.
