Traveling to far off places is something that most of us love and enjoy. Countries also welcome wholeheartedly tourists as it adds up to their foreign exchange reserves and brings in tons of revenue. Here’s a list of ten such countries where the age-old wisdom “Don’t listen to what they say. Go see” shouldn’t be followed. You’ll be shocked to see the list: 1. NORTH KOREA The country has been in the news forever for its extremely stringent rules about how they can use the internet and what haircuts they can take. However, this country requires a tourist to book a complete package of the tour before they even land! You are forced to be with your guides throughout the tour. You Could Face Jail Time For Leaving Your Dog Out In The Cold, Per New Law

Just 30 minutes in the cold for any dog could land its owner in jail for up to a year. Pixabay Leaving your dog chained up outside in the cold isn’t just inhumane, it’s now — at least in Pennsylvania — illegal Just before this winter set in, lawmakers in Pennsylvania decided that dog owners who leave their pets outside in sub-freezing temperatures for more than half an hour (or more than nine hours total in any 24-hour period) can face fines and perhaps even jail time,  according to the  York Daily Record . Furthermore, the new law states that dogs must have access to a shelter that provides cover from the elements and allows them to maintain a normal body temperature. Additionally, tethers must be sufficiently long and not likely to cause the dog to become entangled, while collars must be appropriately sized and not abusive in any way. New Study Finds That So Many Egyptian Statues Have Broken Noses Because Of Intentional Defacement

Image
The long-held belief that even the giant sphinxes had lost their noses due to wear and tear isn't actually accurate, but rather these statues were intentionally vandalized in an effort to reduce their symbolic powers. Wikimedia Commons The Great Sphinx of Giza, perhaps the most famous Egyptian statue with a glaringly missing nose. As curator of the Brooklyn Museum’s Egyptian art galleries, Edward Bleiberg fields a lot of questions from curious visitors. The most common one is a mystery many museum-goers and history obsessives have pondered for years — why are the statues’ noses so often broken? According to  CNN , Bleiberg’s commonly held belief was that the wear and tear of millennia would naturally affect the small, protruding parts of a statue before the larger components. After hearing this question so often, however, Bleiberg began doing some investigative research. Bleiberg’s research posited that ancient Egyptian artifacts were deliberately defaced as they served as poli

Forensic Facial Reconstruction: The Journey to Connect with our Ancestors

Image
Facial reconstructions allow us to look eye to eye with our ancient ancestors and relate to them in a way that skeletal remains do not inspire. It can be dehumanizing to look at a bare skull, and many societies consider looking at bodily remains taboo. It can be easy to forget that a skeleton was once a living , breathing person when bones can provoke such a visceral response. Giving a face to the skeletal remains of a human who lived hundreds or even thousands of years ago makes it easier to connect with the past, and it is appealing and engaging to present facial reconstructions to the general public to spark an interest in the societies and people of the past. Advancements in technology mean it has never been easier to reconstruct faces from ancient remains , but the field has been around for a surprisingly long time and the history offacial reconstruction is as fascinating as the art itself. 3D forensic DEMO_reel Visualforensic/P_Froesch  from  Philippe FROESCH  on  Vimeo .
